Acid Washed is a two-man process primarily, deteriorating sound amongst souvenirs, friends, home studios and analogue equipment.
The result is a fusion of late nineties filter house and DFA disco anthems that acknowledges the influence of Chicago and Detroit without being overly reverential. Throw names like Steve Reich, Giorgio Moroder into the hat as well if you like, but don’t dwell on them. Cosmic tunes for the party tonight.
Collaboration is the key to Acid Washed; the list of big-name players involved is set to run and run. Labels and artists involved currently: Xaver Naudascher & Gavin Russom (Death From Abroad/Supersoul/DFA), Christophe Chassol (Sébastien Tellier, Phoenix), Christian Kreuz (Get Physical), Arnaud Rebotini/Blackstrobe, Turzi (Record Makers), Lippie, Barbara Panther, Alan Gay, King of Kong (Max Skiba & Artur 8).
The party’s only just getting started.

Yep, that’s KA SO RE, and bring on the avalanche of swoonery, because this Helsinki-based duo play some of the most unique modern and dark indie-disco. Having already conquered and stirred Finnish venues and audiences, this pair’s progressive and intensive arrangements leaves no breathing room for boredom…so we’re showing ‘em some Stateside love. And you should too.
Established in 2008, KA SO RE is Juuso Malin and Henri Seger, whose musical influences stem from French disco house and 80s new wave from the 1980s. Creating one of the most light-hearted maxi releases of the upcoming summer is KA SO RE’s Bunnies. Cute!

Mux Mool’s Skulltaste is a sprawling epic of an album, darting between genres with a rapacious hunger for new beats and genre-mashing electronics. This torrid sequence takes in Flying Lotus style hip hop one moment (‘Hog Knuckles’, ‘Dandelion’) and garish neon disco (‘Enceladus’) the next, taking in brilliantly crafted synthcore instrumentals along the way. The laser beam melodies and vocoded jumble of ‘Death 9000′ sound a little like a hi-fi take on the sort of Betamax-chewing new wave of someone like Dylan Ettinger, while other highlights tread a very different path – ‘Morning Strut’ has its foundations in good old fashioned sampling, while ‘Crackers’ goes all out for cartoonish, yammering techno complete with over-compression and gaudy synth arpeggios. All this, plus the digital edition comes with five bonus tracks….

Euphorie is a brand new french band rising, bred out of funkster ghetto blasters and driving electro beats. Listening to their track ‘Bots Attack’. I find myself awkwardly headbanging to it homie style, and I can only imagine the even greater hugeness of it when sqeezing the juices out of it to the max and raise the bpm in the club. Justice meets Owl Vision meets massive solid brick wall in your face.
